Denominational Affiliation Decision

John Haralson
April 24, 2022

Dear Grace Family,

As you may have heard, our congregation voted in favor* of leaving the PCA and affiliating with the Churches for the Sake of Others Diocese (C4SO) of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). That change is effective immediately.

Thank you to all who participated in the congregational meeting and for those of you who spoke—either for or against the move. It was a healthy discussion that was reflective of the integrity and maturity of our church.

For me personally, today is a bit strange. It’s the first time since 1990 (!) that I have not been a part of the Presbyterian Church in America. There is a real feeling of disorientation and loss.

At the same time, I am deeply encouraged by the vote and believe the Lord is directing us on this path. We are joining ourselves to a historically rich and worldwide communion with 85 million members, and I believe this is a move in the right direction. I am eager to see how the Lord uses this change to lead us into a new chapter of our church’s life and ministry.

As I said at the meeting, I would encourage all of you—no matter how you voted or would have voted if you were a member—to stay at Grace and try the change on for yourself. As Jason mentioned, we will be having a Christian Formation class in the fall designed to be a deeper dive into the history, theology, and gifts of the Anglican tradition.

More information will be coming out soon.

It is a joy to serve alongside you all.

Warmly in Christ,
John
