If you are receiving this, you are in some way connected to the ministry of our church. If you are a financial donor to Grace in 2022, you should have already received this letter last week in a separate mailing along with a current statement of your giving to Grace for the year. If you didn’t receive that email, please contact Danielle Taniguchi at danielle@graceseattle.org.
If you are not currently a donor, I ask you to prayerfully consider giving to further the Lord's work through our congregation. There are several giving options at the end of this email.
My sincere thanks to each of you once again for your generous gifts to Grace Church Seattle during the first quarter of 2022. There has been a lot going on at Grace already this year, but your faithful giving has been consistent, and that is a huge blessing for our congregation. Thank you!
We ended the first quarter with expenses exceeding income by approximately $70,000. In isolation I can understand how this could be seen as concerning; however, our pattern is to start each year in a deficit position. For example, in 2021 expenses exceeded giving by $48,000 even though we ended the year in the black.
With all the changes going on please be assured that I, and the rest of the finance team, are keeping a close eye on our finances and our financial health. We will continue to monitor things closely in Q2 and going forward.
Once again, I want to challenge those of you who are willing and able to consider converting a larger % of your annual giving to a regular monthly amount. At present, our regular monthly giving is only 65% of our total budget. Being dependent on one-time gifts for 35% of our regular budget presents operational challenges. It would be a blessing to increase this percentage to closer to 100%.
In summary, we continue to be grateful and blessed as a congregation. And we remain hopeful and committed to the vision for increased outreach and giving to the many needs that surround us. If you have any questions, please contact me, a staff member, or a member of our Vestry.
