Job Overview

Provide logistical and inter-personal support to help Grace Kids run smoothly and
effectively on Sunday mornings. 

Background
Grace Church Seattle (www.graceseattle.org) is a church seeking to reach the city of Seattle. A significant component of our congregational life involves passing our faith along to the next generation. At the same time, we want our church to be a place that is accessible and hospitable to those who are not Christians. For these reasons, we want Grace Kids to be a place where our own children are nurtured in the faith and a place where children outside the faith can come and learn about the gospel and be welcomed into the congregation.

Qualifications

  • Christian with a love for the church and its children and a desire to help further the church’s mission.
  • An ability to interact well with parents, volunteers, and children. An ability to build and maintain positive relationships with staff, leadership, volunteers, and congregants.
  • Ability to think on your feet and respond to last-minute volunteer cancellations.

Responsibilities

Sunday Morning Air Traffic Control
The Sunday Facilitator will be a key player responsible for helping foster a warm,
welcoming, hospitable, and safe culture for children and their families. This ethos should
be extended to both our congregation and visitors. The Coordinator will be the Sunday
morning “Quarterback”. We envision 3-4 people sharing this position and serving on a
rotational basis.

In this capacity, the Sunday Facilitator will:

  • Be a central presence on Sunday morning for welcoming families, answering questions, assisting volunteers, and directing traffic.
  • Ensure last minute vacancies and cancellations are filled.
  • Maintain and adjust appropriate signage, check-in/check-out, and other safety procedures in support of the ministry philosophy and our written Child Protection Policy.
  • Assist Nursery Helper with set-up and ensure teachers and caregivers have access to all supplies, curricula, snacks, and materials.
  • Gather all volunteers together for “morning meeting” at 8:30 and lead time of prayer for the morning.
  • Assist in the classroom as needed.

Expectations

  • Self-starting with an ability to be energized by vision and direction of church.
  • Ability to sustain effective scheduling procedures.
  • Maintain a positive community environment.

Hours, pay, etc.

  • Serve 1, 6-hour shift per month (Sunday, ~ 7:30am-1:30pm). Will be part of a rotation
    of people who carry out the job. 
    • *Hours for July and August will decrease to approximately 3 hours per week on Sundays.
  • Reports to Grace Kids Ministry Administrator. 
  • Pay is $14-17/hour.
