Grace University

Grace U is for growth in the knowledge of God and the life of discipleship through the teaching of Scripture and Christian theology, and their relevance to every area of life. Classes, symposia, and events are open to all. For more information about Grace University, email Annette Hedman.

Classes—Spring 2008
Theology 2: Humanity, Sin, Jesus, and Salvation: This class is the second of three in a series covering the main topics of Christian theology. The topics listed in the schedule below provide the nucleus of the Christian message and a theological basis for Gospel-centered living. You may attend the entire course or pick weeks during which a particular topic of interest is being covered. Topics include:

  • 4/15 or 17: The Doctrine of Humanity: its creation and fall into sin, the image of God in humans; The Doctrine of Sin: its origin and spread
  • 4/22 or 24: The Doctrine of Sin: its nature and restraint
  • 4/29 or 5/1:The Doctrine of Christ: Old Testament shadows, his humanity and deity, his work, his offices
  • 5/6 or 8: The Doctrine of Salvation: Old Testament paradigms, the role of the Holy Spirit, union with Christ, the “order of salvation” introduced
  • 5/20 or 22: The Doctrine of Salvation: predestination, the “order of salvation,” effectual call and regeneration
  • 5/27 or 29: The Doctrine of Salvation: repentance and faith, adoption, justification
  • 6/3 or 5: The Doctrine of Salvation: sanctification, excursus on wisdom and the
    leading of the Spirit, perseverance

Parenting: This class is designed to help parents with the wild and wooly world of  parenting. Topics include God’s Promises to Parents, Living Out the Gospel to Your Children, Discipline, and Education.

Covenant Seminary Prof Lectures on Faith and Science: Dr. Jack Collins is a Professor of Old Testament at Covenant Seminary where he teaches courses as diverse as Hebrew Exegesis and Science & Theology. He received his Ph.D. in Hebrew at the University of Liverpool, England and his M.Div. from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary. He also has an S.B. and S.M. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is an expert on Genesis 1-4 and a lover of science.
