Preparing for Worship: This Sunday at Grace

Dear Friends,

One of the things we say often is this:

The kingdom of God grows when we introduce our friends to our friends.

This Sunday, Rev. Jay Thomas Hewitt will be preaching God’s word to us. To many in the congregation, Jay Thomas in an old friend. He was on our pastoral staff from 2007-2009. For others, however, this weekend will be your first time to meet him.

Jay Thomas and his wife Andrea, along with their children, recently moved back to the Seattle area after he completed his PhD studies in Scotland. He is a good and faithful preacher, and I trust we will be blessed through his teaching.

This Sunday, we will also continue our Christian Formation series on Loving and Serving Our Neighbors by beginning an 8-week series called "Practices of Love: Spiritual Disciplines for the Life of the World”, utilizing the book by the same title by Kyle David Bennett. Debbie Tacke will be leading this class, and this Sunday we will be discussing the theme of simplicity and how practicing simplicity renews the way we relate to our material possessions and forms us toward love. Please plan to join us at 10:30 in the sanctuary for this important time together.

This week: Colossians 2:20-3:5, Hidden with Christ.
