Preparing for Worship: Welcoming Pastor Anderson to Grace

“Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
 Serve the LORD with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!”
 Psalm 100:1-2

Dear Friends,
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday. Although I enjoy my job, I am still in denial that Christmas is over. According to the church calendar, today is the Feast of the Epiphany, which concludes the 12 Days of Christmastide.

This Sunday, we have the great privilege of welcoming the Rev. Dr. Carey Anderson to preach God’s word to us. Pastor Anderson is the Senior Minister of First AME Church, Seattle. Over the past year, I have been able to worship with the people of First AME and have gotten to know Pastor Anderson. He is a faithful preacher of God’s word, and I am also happy to count him as a friend. I think he will be a gift from the Lord to our congregation. As Bill Boyd said to us this past summer, “The Kingdom of God grows when we introduce our friends to our friends.”

In addition to preaching at both services, Pastor Anderson will be leading a Q & A during Christian Formation Hour in the sanctuary. This is a great opportunity to talk to the leader of one of the key churches in our city.

I hope to worship with you!

This Sunday: Rev 3:7-13

Liturgy is here.
