Preparing For Worship: Living Connected In A Disconnected World

“The Lord is healing our isolation from him and one another.”

--Hans Bayer

God has created us for deep and meaningful connection. Some of us have tasted this connection with God and others and know the almost indescribable resonance that happens in our souls when we make deep and abiding contact with another. Many, if not most of us, however, know the ache and destruction which occurs in our lives when these connections do not occur or are shattered.

Regardless of your experience with relational connection, we all know what it means to hunger for it.

In the biblical story, we discover that God’s work is to restore ###em to its original intent. And, a significant part of that means that God is currently working to heal our relational brokenness. He is laboring, through the work of Christ and the Holy Spirit, to mend both our relationships with him and our relationships with one another. To use Isaiah’s poetic words, God is giving us the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

So, when we pray

    Thy kingdom come,

    Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven...

One of the things we are praying for is a greater experience of relational healing, both with the Lord and one another.

This weekend, we will be exploring these themes with one another at the church-wide retreat. Please be in prayer for our congregation this weekend.

Remember, our worship this Sunday will be at 9:30am at the Program Center at Warm Beach Camp & Conference Center only. So, even if you are not going to the retreat, please join us for worship on Sunday morning. Make a day of it!

Warmly in Christ,

John
